Roland Hower

Principal

Principal Roland Hower founded Hower Architects in 1997.

Prior to starting his own firm, Roland worked with renowned architectural firms including: Skidmore Owings & Merrill & Harry Weese Associates in Chicago, Muchow Associates in Denver, Barger + Dean Architects in Sarasota, and Wilhelm Holzbauer, during which time he assisted in the design of Amsterdam City Hall.

Client, Kalmia Residence

Roland Hower is a dream architect! We have used him on several projects including a complete exterior design, transforming our 1970's wood sided house into a modern stucco masterpiece home. And recently he created a design for a new deck with cable railing and a nice privacy feature. In addition to his superb architectural credentials and creative design, we like working with Roland because he listens carefully to what we are wanting and incorporates our ideas and desires into his plans. Client

Hower Architects helped us to take what was the 'ugly ducking' on the block and turned it into the 'jewel of the neighborhood.' We added an upper floor, bedroom suit and office, as well as a foyer and library to the main level. In addition we raised ceiling heights, gutted kitchen and bathrooms and transformed an old, tired hodgepodge of a dwelling into a modern beauty. Roland worked closely with us to guarantee that the house reflected our desires and aesthetic. We could not have been happier with the results.

Hower Architects assisted me with a $500K remodel at 3160 3rd (La maison du Soleil) as well as the design of 3123 3rd Street, both in Boulder's Newlands area. Both homes turned out to be real traffic stoppers and Roland was always on time and within budget. I am very proud of how both homes turned out and of my association with Roland and Hower Architects.
